I join the Volvo Powertrain Purchasing team in 2007 and become « Global Commodity Manager » for the Axles scope, valued around 600 M€ per annum with operations in Europe, USA, Brazil, Japan, India and China with the support of a network of about ten local buyers.
My main responsibility is to manage the global relationship with our main partner Meritor in Europe and Americas.
I drive in particular the transfer of purchasing responsibility resulting from an evolution of our business model on the non-driven axle perimeter and I redefine the sourcing strategies of its main components, following a shortage crisis and the 2008 downturn. New synergies are achieved with engine components, combining the reduction of suppliers, the increase of contract durations and the implementation of business continuation solutions.
I negotiate a contract renewal in US and supervise the commercial discussions prior to the launch of a new axle family in Europe and Brazil. I also develop alternative scenarios aiming to increase the supplier competition level by combining the internal product plan with the supplier offers.
I supervise the sourcing phase for a new vehicle project addressing the value segment in Asia (India, China and Thailand). Local suppliers are assessed and selected with the ambition to be fully integrated in the global supplier base at mid-term. Finally, new cost breakdown references are built between regions and market, in order to enhance commercial leverage.
